ABOUT

The composer Gio (Giorgi) Janiashvili (*1989, Tbilisi) incorporates into his practice music, art, performance and cinema disciplines. He has staged concerts, multimedia performances and installations internationally. He received a bachelor's degree and a master’s degree in composition from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London. He is a resident of the U.S. and is based in New York.

His works have been performed and exhibited at the Southbank Centre, The Institute of Contemporary Arts, Laban Theatre, Blackheath Halls and The Royal Observatory in London; Abrons Arts Centre, The Tank, ShapeShifter Lab and Speyer Hall in New York; The Nostitz Palace and The National Gallery in Prague; Messe Frankfurt in Frankfurt; Prisco Haus in Munich; Sala Clemente in Valencia; Georgian National Museum - Museum of Georgia, The National Gallery, Tbilisi History Museum, Tbilisi State Conservatoire and National Music Centre in Tbilisi; etc. His works have featured at music, art and performance festivals in the US, UK, EU and Georgia.

Gio Janiashvili was commissioned for the 12th Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, Frankfurter Buchmesse, Surrogate Cities Exploded!, Impossible Brilliance: The Music of Conlon Nancarrow, Festival of Time and Space Harmony of the Spheres; from a violist Rivka Golani, CoMA Voices, City Lit London, the Goethe-Institut, Trinity Laban, Polish National Institute, etc. He is a recipient of Beatrice Taylor Scholarship, Leverhulme Trust Scholarship, Trinity Laban Scholarship, TCL Scholarship, Tsinandali Award, Vivian Prindle Outreach Prize, etc. He has given seminars at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.
